WHY ARE CATS OR DOGS SHAVED?

Hair loss may occur in our pets due to reasons such as seasonal transitions, disorders in skin and hair structure and stress. This can lead to clumping as a result of neglect, especially in long-haired cats and dogs. For this reason, we offer pet hairdressing services for your puppies. In addition, breed-specific shaving can also be applied.

IS IT NECESSARY TO SHAVE DOGS OR CATS?

Shaving or getting the support of a pet hairdresser does not provide a definitive solution to hair loss, except in cases of clumping. Our pet friends go through a hair change from summer to winter. We can explain this situation through an example with people. People show differences in their choice of clothes according to the seasons. Our puppies have thinner and more breathable feathers in the summer months or a thicker feather structure that will provide heat balance in the winter months. Hair loss may occur during this transition process.

Apart from normal shedding during seasonal transitions, if you observe excessive shedding in your puppy, we recommend that you contact your veterinarian. Because abnormalities in the skin and hair structure may be a sign of a disease in your child. In addition, in case of deficiency of substances (omega 3, omega 6, biotin, etc.) that should be taken from outside and that benefit the skin and coat structure, hair and skin problems may occur frequently. Apart from disease conditions, using the necessary substances to improve skin and coat quality, providing a stress-free environment and combing your child at least once a day can offer a longer-term solution. Remember, it is important to start grooming as a puppy and get your pet used to grooming.

HOW IS PET HAIRDRESSING DONE?

Considering the general condition of your pet, it may be appropriate to offer a grooming service. Factors such as age, weight, disease status and temperament will determine the type and method of grooming. The noise of the machine, phobias or uncontrolled behaviour towards the clinical environment may cause your pet to experience stress and try to harm themselves or you. Therefore, the most appropriate option is to shave under sedation. However, sedated shaving may not be appropriate depending on factors such as your pet's age, weight and past illnesses. In this case, shaving is not recommended.

IS SEDATION HARMFUL IN CAT SHAVING?

It is important to note the difference between sedation and anaesthesia, as many people confuse these two terms. Sedation is a method used to calm the pet and is usually preferred in stressful situations such as shaving. If your puppy has no health problems and sedation is rarely used, sedation is unlikely to be harmful to the body. There may be situations where the stress of shaving may outweigh the negative effects of sedation.
